Frequently asked questions
When is Thailand expected to adopt the Apostille?⌄
No firm date. As of mid-2026 the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is still at the study stage.
If the destination is a Hague member, is the embassy step still needed?⌄
Yes, because the document originates in Thailand, which is not a member — the destination embassy in Bangkok must still legalize it.
What does Notary + MFA + embassy cost together?⌄
On average THB 3,000–8,000 per document, depending on the country and how fast you need it.
Can I do it myself without a lawyer?⌄
You can file at the MFA yourself, but the document must be notarised first and counter queues typically run 2–4 hours.
Does Thailand issue e-Apostilles?⌄
No. Paper documents with wet stamps and original signatures are still the only accepted form.
